Abdul Rasheed Olaniyi Akindiya (a.k.a Akirash) of Nima Accra, Ghana, masters a mixed-media approach especially in his work "House of Fire". With its striking rough textural development he emphasizes the implied heat of the fire with the outer containment painted in cool blue. Quite compelling is the lock in a locked position and the rope in the form of a noose. His work "Lots of Spoons - No Food" is compounded in such a way that the dramatic effects are arresting. The raw nature of the materials together with the dollar sign and the teardrop play up the striking message.
